Devonport City can wrap up the NPL Tasmania title today if they beat the visiting Clarence Zebras and if second-placed Glenorchy Knights slip up against Riverside Olympic at KGV Park.
If Devonport and Knights both win, the title race could go on for another week.
Devonport will be hot favourites to down sixth-placed Clarence Zebras at Valley Road at 2.15pm today.
The home side will be at full strength, whereas the visitors appear to have limited resources.
Clarence Zebras coach David Smith is due to have knee surgery and he may not make the trip, which would leave Sergio Pace in charge for today’s match.
The club has advertised for a coach for next season and it appears Smith will ‘move upstairs’ and have more of a managerial and supervisory role.
Glenorchy Knights should have few problems against second-last Riverside Olympia at 4.30pm at KGV Park.
Fortunately, it is Daylight Saving Time and, even if the day is bleak, the floodlights may not be necessary after last night’s fiasco.
Olympia Warriors face a tricky away trip to Launceston’s Buckby Land Rover Park for a 4.30pm kick-off against bottom-side Launceston City.
Launceston City have shown signs of life in recent week and this game will be a useful rehearsal for the two clubs’ coming Lakoseljac Cup semi-final showdown.
A City win is likely to take them off the foot of the standings, so there is huge incentive to win for the home side.
The remaining match of the round is at Lightwood park at 6.30pm, where third-ranked Kingborough Lions United host fifth-placed South Hobart.
South Hobart appear to have the wood on the Lions judging from their recent encounters, but playing at The Den could be a different proposition.
That is, if the game goes ahead, of course, as the recent heavy rains could not have helped the surface.
Assuming the game goes ahead, Kingborough will be buoyed by their display against Clarence Zebras last week when they scored five times.
South Hobart cannot afford to be complacent and this promises to be an intriguing encounter.
Today’s NPL Tasmania program is:
Devonport City v Clarence Zebras (2.15pm, Valley Road)
Glenorchy Knights v Riverside Olympic (KGV Park, 4.30pm)
Launceston City v Olympia Warriors (Buckby Land Rover Park, Launceston, 4.30pm)
Kingborough Lions United v South Hobart (Lightwood Park, 6.30pm)

Port wont lose it from here. 2 games clear at the top of the mountain and its all over.
Devonport losing 0 - 1 at Half Time . If this remains and Knights wins the difference is 3 points with 2 games to play and the title in the balance. Next 45 minutes vital.
Yes, one of the more boring ascents of a mountain you're likely to see... but fundamental mountaineering credit where it's due.
