Well done devonport again showed why you won the title. Back 4 and a fantastic keeper equals clean sheets

Knights if they dont win the Laka Cup the year is a failure. With that squad they should have won the league

South young squad did well to finish 3rd. Andy Brennan no league goals and 1 of the biggest disapoitments of the season

Kingbrough to finish 4th is well done with a very average squad. Hats off to Jez and his signing of Sunday which was a masterstroke

Olympia complete failure of a season plain and simple

Clarence Zebras pretty disapointing season. If they dont recruit 6 to 8 players they are in big trouble. Franco as coach is not a step forward

Riverside blooded kids and will benefit from this but next season must move up the ladder

City disgusting and going nowhere

That is some review. Correct on Devonport, correct on the Lions, very far off the mark regarding the rest.
Olympia have unearthed some real potential and a shift in culture perhaps. Knights have gone from 5th to 2nd and look to be moving forwards there's no doubt they can play. Slating on Andy is just a low blow. Why must River move up the ladder?

Why has Stone got his fingers in his ears? Picking earwax???

Anonymous said...

How is that a low blow to Andy?? he wasted a young kids spot by not doing much for south hobart

Agree Olympia’s culture seems to have improved during the year amazing what some humble pie can do but overall the year has been a disaster for them .... wrap it up how you like but finishing 5th is well below average

Apart from Devonport South would have to be the best performance of the year ... to lose over half your starting 11 and still finish 3rd playing youngsters (Andy has been little help) is something I doubt many other clubs could do including Devonport. Knights had to finish top 2 given they brought in over half a new team and really this year was their best chance to win the comp ... if they don’t win the Laka cup it will be a disappointing year

Why does everyone want to protect Andy? When you come over to the state, and people start claiming you're one of the best players from Tasmania, and you don't have any significant impact on any games, why are you immune from criticism?

He's played A-League yes, and credit to him for that, but since then has not done anything in Victoria or Tasmania. Give me Sanders or Mann any day of the week.

Anon 12.58 you dont have to agree but thats my opinion. Andy was terrible this year, he didnt score and didnt look interested, he regularly turned the ball over and barely fought to win it back. South looked much better without him.

Knights had a title winning team and finished a distant 2nd in a short season not good enough in the league

Olympia culture might improve now but they were awful this season, title favourites to a 5th place finish in the worst NPL comp since it started is terrible.

Clarence went backwards from mart season and with a few names leaving that i have heard are in big trouble

City were a joke and have huge issues on and off the field

River have a young squad which needs to step up next season simple as that

The most obvious difference between Vic NPL and here is the lack of pace from the CBs to the hit me on the head strikers, stuttering play and slow grounds. At least Andy has played there a feat none of the current South youth will succeed at.

Bringing in half a side means its more difficult, look at Olympia. Knights have Cleary been the second best side.

Agree Knights have been the second best side but it’s not a shock it was expected at the very least as it was also expected Olympia would be in the mix ... big difference between those teams and all their new players is that Knights picked up proven NPL players in their prime whilst Olympia picked up several unproven players at NPL level and a couple of proven NPL players well past their prime so really it’s probably not that big a shock that Olympia finished where they did

Port just prove they are the best team. Knights not good enough to beat them. Better spend some more $$$.
South have been interesting. Shame a spot was wasted on a clearly out of sorts Brennan .
Lions would be happy that they finally have something to build on.
Olympia , get what they deserve to be honest. Maybe a culture change is blowing though.
CZ small signs of what they are capable of. A few good players and a coach could take them a long way. Not sure Previdi is that coach. I think that's a bad choice.
Riverside , great one minute ordinary the next. Good young squad so should improve.
City, wooden spoon says it all. Might collect a few more if things don't change.

Port spend mate don't kid yourself Gallo isn't working for free

Just watched the Clarence Zebras v Launceston game and spotted a brilliant little game saving moment , in the 28th minute a rocket of a shot came in from Launny and was deflected up and back going in to goal and the little back from Clarence Zebras just got there and somehow back headed from under the bar into the keepers reach to what sounded like the gratitude of the home crowd , these are the plays that should inspire the team, well played young man

All teams spend yes but only one openly tried to buy the title.

CZ appointment.
Covid has probably influenced a wider selection and you need to remember that Smithy & Prevedi are long time mates. I don't think it is a wise choice but then again, if you look into the coaching community, there is not much else about. I won't be surprised if some of the current players who have worked under him and are close thinking of putting the boots up may do so. Andrew Brown, Mark Broadbent, Romilton. I can't really think of any one else who is currently about, that is not knowing what maybe available from the Northern end of the state.
As for the evaluation of CZ 2020 performance - when you look at the squad and the scorelines, other than a few games, I actually think they were very competitive throughout the year. Significant long term injuries to a number of key players also did not help.
I agree with South Hobart - rejuvenated Kenny and a hungry bunch of younger lads with the experience of Nick, Kobe and nothing to lose, is a dangerous recipe for opposition side, some of whom I don't think gave the South lads the respect they deserved at the commencement of the year.

Better get a copy of The Advocate.

"He also revealed that he coached in 2020 on a volunteer basis to help the club out and repay some of the great memories he received from the 2018 season where they won the league and cup titles and defeated Northcote City in Melbourne in the FFA Cup.

"I really enjoy working with the players and the football club, and this year I volunteered my services, more so for the players and what they gave me in 2018," he said.

"I felt that I owed them that to be here this year and the club as well."
