South Hobart should remain on top of the NPL Tasmania standings after their meeting with Launceston City at 2pm at South Hobart Oval today.

Launceston City are third-last on goal difference and have yet to score a goal or earn a point after two rounds.

The home side go into this game having beaten Devonport City 1-0 away in the league two weeks ago and progressing to the quarterfinals of the Lakoseljac Cup after a 2-0 win at home against Clarence Zebras in the previous outing.

Coach Ken Morton always manages to get the best out of his youngsters, while assistant coach, Peter Savill, knows all about Launceston City and will be able to offer the kind of advice to beat them.

The most intriguing contest today seems to be the game between Kingborough Lions United (2nd) and Glenorchy Knights (3rd) scheduled for Lightwood Park at 6.30pm today.

Knights are one of the title favourites, while Lions are emerging as a real title threat and their fans must be hoping that this is their year, especially after they won the Summer Cup.

Shane Cartwright has reappeared in the Lions line-up recently and his presence could be a key factor, if he is fit.

The Knights carry a heavy burden of expectations into this game and it should be interesting to see the starting line-up chosen by coach James Sherman.

Will he opt for Jordan Muller in midfield or Nick Mearns, or will both start?

One of Sherman’s biggest headaches is that he has a strong squad and no-one likes to be left out and to occupy the bench.  Keeping everyone happy is a common problem for coaches when they have so many good players.

How they handle such situations is a key to success.

Olympia Warriors entertain Clarence Zebras at Warrior Park at 4.30pm and this promises to be a close game.

Both clubs are rebuilding and finding their feet and each is capable of winning on their day.

Devonport City, the reigning champions, are a shoo-in to win their clash against Riverside Olympia at Windsor Park at 4.30pm.

Devonport won 13-0 against Northern Rangers on their recent visit to Launceston for a Lakoseljac Cup match and now that they have tasted blood, it could spell the end of their favourite 1-0 winning scorelines.
