A little bit quiet. Bahahahaha.

What a great result. Have a lot of admiration by the way Devonport go about things. Very professional in attitude & commitment. Many clubs could learn a lot just by watching .

Knights would really be disapointed in not making the national stage with the cash they have spent. Now we wait and see what the 3 league meetings brings between these teams but i cannot see knights beating Dport at Valley Road. If rumors are true and Sherman is leaving for the Mainland next season it would be interesting if knights suppoters have seen his term as a success ( 1 Laka cup ) with the squads they have had. This isnt a knock on Sherman just would be interested

Boring league.
Still the same teams winning:

Devonport Laka
Sth Hobart U/20's
Olympia Women

Oh dear, that is too funny. You're really not very bright. I'm originally from Launnie and now live in Queensland. I love my football and still keep an eye on Tassie. I responded a coupe of times with "the world still turns" and "it was ever thus" in relation to complaints that one team had bought all the best players. I was trying to say that since the invention of football, teams have set out all over the world to buy the best players. Its nothing new. You shoud watch a Netflix series called The English Game. It was going on in the century before the last one. I didn't have a horse in the race on Monday. If I support anyone it would be Riverside. Anyway, I want to thank you for making my day...that is properly funny...

If he does go I don't know if he will last long. The first year there squad wasn't great and finished where they should have the second year they won a cup and finished second it will either be second first and another final by anyone's standards thats successful

I am so glad I made your day. I guess I will have to brush up my "reading between the lines" skills - albeit one line. I don't know how I didn't get that - geez, you're right, I'm not very bright,am I? Hahahaha.....

You forgot to include in your comment what the cost to the club has been for this so called success. For the money the club has invested in the players they should have cleaned up last year and should win the title this year , otherwise I would regard that as a fail. How many of the starting 11 players alone have been developed by the club ? Maybe 2 . All others have been bought from elsewhere. An eastern shore club did exactly the same not that long ago and look where they are now.
Signing the so called ' best players' by one club does not necessarily lead to success unless you regard success as spending the money Knights have in recent years and win only a Laka Cup in that time.
Not success in my opinion.

The only things that brings the Knights senior team together is money.

If the cash dried up I wonder how many would stay? Probably a similar amount to what stayed at Olympia after Gorgeous George pulled up stumps.

Barely a player in the squad with Croatian heritage.

This won't end well.

Fair enough opinion. That money if one kick goes in is now worth it is that what your saying? Because that was the difference Monday. Zebs have paid for years and not come close, south hobart pay and have 1 trophy in the last 4 season kingborough are the money men at the moment also and have a summer cup you seem bitter and that's fine but put some perspective on it

Anon 1.39.Dont judge Knights' success or otherwise by that one performance. No the money was not worth it. Firstly they were not good enough for that 'one kick' to go in as you put it.Dev should have had a couple at least by half time after the numerous times they got behind the Knights full backs in that first half. The money the club has spent over the last 5 yeas is what it has actually cost Knights because they had to spend up big to attract players there when they were in the Championship and trying to get back to NPL. Add that cost to the last few years that they have been back in NPL and it has cost an absolute bucket load.
As Anon 1.23pm said , " it wont end well ".

Agreed. How many clubs have those players been at? Just chasing the dollar. Those same players will leave for a higher pay check, if offered.

I’d say the clubs that pay in the south end up paying overs for players as the talent pool is spread thin over a number of clubs. Easy to draw players in where you are the only option to play top flight football without a 1.5hr drive.

Good luck to knights for paying players if they have the means, doesn’t mean they have paid the right players though

Lots of sour grapes here today.
Facts are facts the club at the moment are ahead of the keyboard warriors peace out

Hahah the Dev goal was offside champ neither keeper had much to do

Anon 4.46.
Are ahead of what?
They have won nothing yet. One Laka Cup in ho was long?

You understand that there isn't a team in the league not playing players right?

Anonymous said...

Sorry not all clubs pay there players and if you don't believe me prove me wrong

Muller,hill,mearns,Walter,Schmidt
Bowman the money chasers have only been at 2 clubs Hahah your point is not well made. Jack Turner or Ben hamlett however or maybe Jayden hey or Luke bighin all on their third club

It is Hill's 3rd club and you forgot to mention Adam Gorrie - its his 4th club. And while we are listing stats - Only about 2 GK players have been developed by the Glenorchy Knights, the majority are from South Hobart or Olympia. Wow!!! If I was a GK youth player and wanted to play for the GK Premier League team in the future I would go to South Hobart now. Glenorchy Knights might then look at you in the years to come.

Of course all teams are "playing" players. LOL. Otherwise there wouldn't be any games.

Anonymous said...

Anon 10.31pm. Those players may have been at only 2 clubs but one has been to three and they play one club against another and og th where they will get the most.
Are you saying that Naden , Harrison ( who has bounced around one or two clubs ) Castaneda, Sculthorpe, Luttmer went to Knights for nothing ? I hope not !

Some of the second lot of players you mention have been at a few clubs because they were considered not good enough at a club or their relationship with coaches contributed to change.

Anonymous said...

Anon 9.24 . Spot on the money. They have developed no one.

Anonymous said...

Sorry forgot the only way to measure a club was by who they developed

Anonymous said...

Do all you people realise that when the V League came into play and Knights were kicked out they didn't have a development program for youth or juniors? This had to be built from scratch to be able to get their license for the current NPL structure. So how could any of their current players have been developed by the club. The club now has probably 15 junior teams and 10 youth teams, and in a few years you'd expect a lot of these developed players to be playing NPL. It wasn't that long ago Knights were getting thumped 7-8 nil every week. Money or not, give credit to the hard working volunteers and people in the background that have built this into a thriving club. If you say the players are there only for the money, then you have not seen the culture and supporter base behind the scenes, and the enjoyment within the club. Hell of a lot of comments from people that don't know what goes on behind closed doors of the clubs they support when it comes to player payments over the years

Your very first comment is a load of rubbish.
Didn’t Knights have a senior team back when they were
out of the original State League? I presume some of those players
were developed by Knights , or is that not true ?
Why wouldn’t that team form the nucleus of the first team?
Why didn’t Knights have a youth program as you say?
Is it because the only focus was the first team only like
one of the eastern shore clubs who are now bleeding big tube
purely due bad management.
Your excuses don’t mKr sense.
