Walter, I note your report of goal scorers for the Knights against Borough. You list the third goal as an own goal by the keeper, if that is official then I guess that is it but what I saw was Austin Yost shoot from angle across the goalkeeper and the ball cannoned of the inside of the post went back across the goal and hit the back or the legs of the keeper and into the net, bit harsh if he is not credited with it. How ever I was about as far away as I could be and will stand corrected.

Hi Mick, I haven't got anything official, but I will ask the referee. I use the Italian convention, namely, if the ball was not going in (that's what you are saying, I think)and it strikes another player and goes in, then the goal is credited to that player who got the last touch (deliberately or not, and defender or attacker). It is hard on Austin Yost, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Cheers! Walter

Wow Zebras are hard to follow 9-2 loss 2 weeks ago , turn up with one change (ebini- very good game ) and for second time this year destroyed Olympia ....

Walter, Ive just watched the replay, it wasn't Austin at all it was Eduardo. My bad, but the ball definetly hit the base of a post and then into the back of the keepers legs, real hard on him to be credited with an own goal as well.

Hi Mick
Referee gave it as an own goal.
Cheers!

Hi Walter. The Olympia goal vs Zebras was Kyle Vincent. Ben Tilley was still on the bench. Kind regards

Seriously the standard of the league this year is awful. Knight and Devonport clearly the best teams, South are young and inconsistant but the rest are terrible. Something needs to be done

Tell you what - if football loses Matty Rhodes blog next season then the game will really nosedive.

No imports this year because of COVID and one club obtains a large chunk of the NPL talent in the South and you wonder why the quality across the comp is lower?

Anonymous said...

I agree. The other clubs aren't pulling their weight.

Walter,
Do you believe the state of the game in regards to what you witness and the ladder standings is "stalling" or even getting worse. With no evidence of FFT actually wanting to improve or stand by the competition, would it not be better competitively and be more interesting if the game resorted back to southern and northern. I understand for the evidence and push of our own A league team its viable. But it seems more of a miragè of our health rather than a sustainable and growing product.

For example all advertising tv, commentary and newspaper have all dissipated either completely or sparingly since the original launch of the V league. I know you've touched on this previously, but there's no one else to ask and I genuinely feel the league is a few cut strings from being shambolic.

Be fair Walter. If people want to self promote we should be able to call them out !

jerry kruijver said...

would that be something like anonymous calling another anonymous out?would that identify the problem?

Anonymous said...

No Jerry its about a certain person who writes things on this blog( because this is a blog) promoting his Facebook pages under the guise of being others.
