Clarence
Zebras will be in action for the first time in the NPL Tasmania Summer Cup
tomorrow [Saturday] when they meet Kingborough Lions United at noon at KGV
Park.
Clarence
Zebras beat Riverside Olympic 3-1 in a pre-season friendly last weekend, while
they lost to South Hobart 4-2 a few weeks ago in another friendly.
Kingborough
have been in action twice. They lost 3-1
to Olympia Warriors and drew 0-0 with Glenorchy Knights before losing the
penalty shoot-out.
Clarence
Zebras have three games in 8 days coming up and coach David Smith will give the
entire squad a run in these games.
“We
had a good run-out against Riverside
last week and we’ll look to build on that performance,” Smith said.
“Each
game, I’ll play a different squad and have a good look at everyone.”
The Zebras component of the new club Clarence Zebras have lost nine players from last year’s team, which puts them on a par
with South Hobart’s losses.
Mathew
Sanders has moved to Moreland City, while goalkeeper Sam Whatman has retired.
Ryu
Yonezawa is with Queensland’s Western Pride, while Jordan Muller is with
Glenorchy Knights.
Jan
Charuza has returned to Europe, while Tom Little is and Ben Robinson are at
university in Melbourne.
Chase
Clark is in Brisbane and Nicky Edwards in Melbourne, while Henry Fagg has
retired.
“This
season, the Summer Cup will provide good opportunities for our news players to
link up together,” Smith said.

Kingborough’s
problem so far has been lack of scoring power and they will need to remedy this
soon if morale is not to drop.

tonight’s Championship Summer Cup, Taroona beat Beachside 2-0 at KGV Park through
goals by Oliver Maxwell and Dongke Zhao.
Olympia Warriors downed South East United 6-1 at Warrior Park through four goals by Austin Yost and a goal apiece by Jacob Herbert and Warren Wadawu, the latter with a penalty.
Nicholas Roland netted South East United's goal to give his side a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Zebras have lost alot of talent on that list. They better hope there imports are very good players. Big year for the likes of Walsh,Huigsloot and Hey who have been poor the last couple of seasons
funny thing that,i would be pleased to have players of that calibre at my club.
Jerry not saying that I'm not, they just need need to step up this season with the above loss of players mentioned above. I'm not knocking them but they need to have a greater output
