South Hobart will be without Kobe Kemp, Reilly Morton and Ewan Larby when they host Clarence Zebras in an NPL Summer Cup game at 6pm at South Hobart Oval today.
All
three have niggling injuries and will not be risked.
Lachie
Semmler will get a start, while Jacob Lancaster has earned a place on the
substitutes’ bench.

Clarence
Zebras will be missing James Ackerley, who has an eye injury and will probably be
out for several weeks.
Goalkeeper
Nick O’Connell’s knee has flared up and he will also sit out this game. He had last season off after knee ligament
surgery.
Former
Clarence players Jeremy Price and Cody Snell are likely to start, while Sam
Hills is also a possibility after he played while ill last weekend.

Luke
Huigsloot, who netted a hat-trick last weekend in the 4-1 win over Kingborough
Lions United, is a 50/50 proposition because of work.
Clarence
Zebras coach, David Smith, said he would make up to five changes after an hour
or so in order to run his eye over players.

City, the reigning NPL champions, have parted company with new coach Suraj
Pillai only four months into his tenure.
Chris
Gallo, who had a very successful stint as Devonport coach in 2017 and 2018 has been
appointed as the club’s new coach.

Gallo
had a brief but unsuccessful stint in Queensland after leaving Devonport and
returned to the North-West Coast last year as Football Tasmania’s development
officer for the North-West region.
The
word is he would like to keep that job while coaching Devonport.
A
reliable source said Football Tasmania was unaware of Gallo’s appointment as
Devonport coach, so it will be interesting to see if he is able to keep the two
jobs.
There
are questions about a conflict of interest if Gallo does hold both jobs.

Gallo’s judgement will be biased towards Devonports development.

FFT must act or they run the risk of being perceived as corrupt.
The Gallo thing is the biggest scandal in Tasmanian football gee the board must be spewing what a mess.
FFT love Devonport so wouldn't suprise me at all. They have overtaken South ad the biggest sooks in the league

Regardless of Chris' approach to balancing these 2 roles it will always be perceived as a conflict of interest, even if nothing untoward happens. Institutionalised incompetence yet again from the governing body.

As opposed to Glen Mcniel's situation which would have been a clear conflict of interest given he is the competition manager. I think this is much of a lesser issue, it would be a lot to take on and I don't think he necessarily would want to be long term in both roles, otherwise he probably would have taken the Strikers job when it came up last year.
Its not like talented players who could get to NPL level on the coast wouldn't be going to Devonport or encouraged to go to them anyway, Devonport has that catchment advantage and can extend talent more than other clubs. People love to overreact about this type of stuff, but don't necessarily realise how things are working up there as they are currently and are so entrenched in a club based conflict mindset .
