Western United clinics head north next week

The cynics are already pouring scorn on Western United’s series of coaching clinics in Tasmania over the current school holidays.

But, what they fail to acknowledge is that Western United are the current A-League champions, and that’s a feather in the cap of Tasmanian football.

Western United regard Tasmania as their second home.

Which champions in the past deigned to come down here to run clinics?

Perhaps Melbourne Victory and the Central Coast Mariners, but Western United’s clinics are different.

Western United are partnering with local clubs Clarence Zebras, Hobart City Beachside, Launceston United and Riverside Olympic and revenue from the clinic registrations are shared 50/50 between Western United and the clubs.

That’s different.

It’s good PR on the part of the club and David Clarkson, the brains behind the scheme.

The weather has been perfect this week and, fingers crossed, that it’ll be the same in Launceston next week.
