South Hobart beat Kingborough Lions United 4-0 at Snug Oval this morning in a match to benefit the Peter Mac Cancer Charity.

The Hayley Coad memorial Trophy was presented to the winners by Will Hodgman.

Cam Williams, the brother of Hayley Coad, captained South Hobart.

South Hobart coach Ken Morton fielded the young side that will travel to Wollongong next weekend.

Seth Otte and Andy Brennan each netted a brace.

Warren Iles played for Kingborough, but Greg Freeman was an absentee.

The two clubs intend playing for this trophy in their first league meeting each season in the future.

how strong was the kingborough team walter? if they were at near full strength it can't be a good sign being beaten 4 nil by the south youth team...

Hi Spectator

I wasn't there so I don't know what sort of team Kingborough fielded. I know there were some senior players from last season. Perhaps Geoff Freeman or someone else from Kingborough can let readers know.

Cheers!

thought the older pearce lad (Damien?) played for a short while and may have finished up injuring an arm?? KL's more reserves today rather than seniors "strength". South young 'uns bossed it generally thru superior football and fitness, although I thought the Lions hit the onion bag once.

Charity? How much money was raised?

roberto - not sure of $$$'s but this match was a featured event in today's Snug community fair which was donating funds to Peter McCallum Clinic - all credit to South and Lions for being involved.

Looking at the Lion's lineup, it mostly seems to be U19s and a few seniors. Anyone who takes anything from this in trying to gauge form for the year would be a fool, but there seem to be plenty of those on here. :-) Good to see two teams trying to do something in a less fortunate position than themselves. Well done to both clubs.

apparently the transfer for Ben Gibson involved a packet of bbq shapes and daniel brown .

it was actually only 2 or 3 under 19's with a core of seniors players including iseli, pearce and bremner
