Olympia Warriors booked a semi-final date with South Hobart by downing the visiting Riverside Olympic 3-1 in their quarterfinal match at Warrior Park on Saturday.

American import Bay Kurtz opened the scoring for the home side in the 36th minute.  Jack Ryan’s clever back-heel pass put Kurtz into the box and he managed to shoot past keeper Jarrod Hill before falling as he was tackled.

Jack Ryan then weighed in with two goals in 7 minutes just before the break to give Olympia a commanding 3-0 lead at half-time.

Ryan’s first in the 39th minute was a neat lob over the keeper, while his second, in the stoppage time, was a blistering shot from outside the box that gave Hill no chance.

Riverside pulled a goal back 13 minutes after the resumption.  Sam Davis’s first effort was blocked, but he netted with his follow-up shot.

It was the closest the visitors came to extending Olympia, but they did produce a better performance than their usual league displays.

They brought on Rhys Kinslow with 20 minutes remaining, but the striker was unable to change the course of the game.

Jordan Scott was again the driving force for the Warriors.  Everything seems to revolve around him as he coaxes and urges his team-mates to greater efforts.
