Walter, extraordinary photo of Beachside keeper Amy Coward. Any idea at all what the defender in front of her is doing? You really should put this up as a CAPTION competition...

7.21am, I think the keeper probably called "Keeper's ball" or something like that and the player crouched down in order to get out of the way and let the keeper catch the ball. Perhaps the players can tell us?

Walter, I have a photo from the weekend I tried to copy/paste on here. How is that done?

What has happened to the quality of keepers in the State League.

We have ex Zebras legends at 50 playing, Ex Zebras second strings playing for South.

Maybe its about time we started to invest some money into one of the most important positions.

Nathan Pitchford, Marshall Pooley and Matthew Ferguson is the only locally grown quality keeper I can remember in recent years.

The rest of the keepers of any note have been developed out of the mainland or come from overseas:

Graham Wright (OS)
Giannopolous (OS)
Francois (OS)
Sean Lewis (OS)
Mike McKeena (Mainland)

Other keepers have come and gone but there isn't much quality out there.

Says much about the club you mentioned.

What that they are EX players? Nothing to do with CZ. Your comment says much about you.

I watched both games livestream and I mentioned the other week that I though Lions were good for the first 40mins. They went in with the same game plan and they should of been awarded a penalty as it looked blatant from Foley. That would of changed the game but their ultimate downfall was the poor defending for South's second and third goal, that just should of never happened.
a good game overall.
I thought the warriors v Uni game was a scrappy affair, Uni didn't seem to show enough urgency second half but they only conceded two which is a worrying sign for warriors. a lot of corners for sweet bugger all. Uni did defend reasonably well and they can take a lot out of this game.

“We have ex Zebras legends at 50 playing, Ex Zebras second strings playing for South.“

I think that says more about the club than me.
Another player that has left and as he is a keeper , leaves the club with a 50 yo legend
to travel north.
Embarrassing, not for the player.........,

Get off the kool aid you twit!

It is great to see young keepers not being pushed to the side by mainlanders and imports. COVID is giving them a chance to pave their way in the League. Perfect time to be giving them a shot. They need the experience at that level and personally I think they are doing a bloody good job. How else are they going to learn? At the moment you have 18 and 19 year old keepers playing NPL across the state which is bloody fantastic! It’s twits like you that think money is the answer rather than spending time coaching some home grown talent.

There are some promising young keepers out there . Young Hill from riverside comes straight to mind. Matty Rhodes son Jamie is an outstanding young prospect and you must preserver because how else are they going to improve. They will make mistakes as do experienced outfield players. These kids will win you games.

Agree with your comments but how good is the goalkeeper coaching being provided?
Who are the better goalkeeper coaches?I don’t know so I am asking.
You can’t coach and develop keepers if they are not getting consistent coaching multiple times during the week and only
when the coach is available.
Part time coaches for keepers does not work.
