It was my pleasure today to watch the White Eagles and South Hobart Div. 1 Reserves in action.
What a comparison to when I graced Washington Street some 55 years ago. The style of play of all 4 sides was proficient and to the eye good football. A change to yesteryear where 6 underage players supplemented by 5 ageing veterans made up most reserves and “3rd” elevens. Long balls and sprints by the youth element was the style of play.
We constantly bemoan the lack of standards but to my belief the contrary the “lower” grades continue to improve.
So nice to hear something positive
Interesting results in the Super League yesterday. Congratulations to Launceston United on a great result. Lots of work to do in Clarence. Interesting bit of news out of the Strikers club that after undermining the Ulverstone program last year they had to forfeit their Championship game. Good onya FFT on another stuff up .
The information I have out of the Strikers club is that they had plenty of players but ran out of time to register them. I guess time will tell with that one. I also hear they are fielding 2 junior teams in the North West Girls Competition. As for undermining the Ulverstone program, you cant really undermine something that didnt exist in the first place.
Thankfully it's FFT's fault. For a fleeting moment I thought a club might have to take some responsibility. Phew
Interesting comment 1:32pm. I find it hard that you believe a club which has produced the third best team in Super League history, had an undefeated youth girls team last season and has always had a northern championship women’s team doesn’t have an existing program. I’d like to know what you believe an adequate program may be? As for running out of time to register, what a poor excuse. Everyone has had the same length of time and there’s been no complaints from other clubs having any problems with registration.
