Social Summer Cup kicks off tonight

Kingborough Black and Olympia Warriors kick off the 2019 Social Summer Cup, Conference 1 Division, at 6.30pm at North Chigwell today.

That will be followed at 8pm at North Chigwell by the Conference 2 clash between Metro and New Town Eagles.

North Chigwell will host five games on Sunday.

The day kicks off at 10.30am with a Conference 1 game featuring Metro Blue against Southern FC Blue.

This will be followed at noon by the game between Hobart Zebras and South Hobart.

Conference 2 games on Sunday are at 1.30pm between South East United and Taroona.

Liam (coach) and Zac Pullen pulled up stumps at Brighton Storm last week and have joined South East United.

At 3pm on Sunday, Hobart United take on Kingborough Lions United Blue, while at 4.30pm, Southern FC White meet Uni Dynamo.

Metro inform me that the barbecue will be running tonight and on Sunday.

“It will be $2 a snag and, of course, the bar will be open for coffee and re-hydration of your choice after your games,” said Metro spokesman, Darrin Chaffey.

“Good luck to all participating.

“Also, during the Social Summer Cup at North Chigwell, our friends at Southern FC will be trying to raise some money to help young Xavier Lynch to get to Spain after being selected to represent Australia in an U-14 Futsal tournament.

“If you can buy a raffle ticket, or donate a few dollars, I’m sure Xavier and his family would be very appreciative.”

In pre-season friendlies tomorrow [Saturday], NPL Tasmania rivals Kingborough Lions United confront Glenorchy Knights at Lightwood Park at 2pm.

This game will be preceded by the Challenge League game between the two clubs at noon.

Next Wednesday, 20 February 2019, South Hobart will play Glenorchy Knights in an NPL Tasmania friendly at South Hobart Oval at 6.30pm.

The same evening, Glenorchy Knights (Challenge League, I presume) will play Hobart United at KGV Park at 7.45pm.
