Olympia Warriors thrashed Clarence United 9-0 in an NPL Tasmania pre-season friendly at Warrior Park tonight.
It
would seem that the derby known as ‘the greatest rivalry on the Eastern Shore’
is dead.
It is
a thing of the past. It is no contest.
One
can only fear for Clarence as the season approaches.
Jack
Ryan hit a hat-trick tonight, while Joel Sammut grabbed a brace.
Nick
Mearns, Jake Vandermey, Mark Ortmann and Lucas Hill also found the net for the
Warriors.
Olympia’s
new American signing from Indiana, Bay Kurtz, has arrived.
South
Hobart’s American import has apparently reached Melbourne and should also be
here this week.
In
tonight’s other pre-season friendly, Kingborough Lions United lost 2-1 to
University at Lightwood Park.
Tomorrow
[Wednesday], Glenorchy Knights play South Hobart at South Hobart Oval at 6pm or
thereabouts.
Glenorchy
Knights’ Challenge League side will also be in action tomorrow night.
They
play Hobart United at KGV Park at 7.45pm.

oh dear
FFT need to do something . The season hasn’t even started and one club has confirmed already that they should not be in the league. FFT should sit down and discuss the situation with the club in question and make a decision about the future of the league. That is the most important issue as well as the unacceptable performances to date . Yes it is pre season but that is where improvement should be seen. It obviously is not happening.
Wow watched Lions last night. What he hell is going on? Outplayed by a social club . All the rah rah rah early on should have seen huge improvement on last year. It seems to be same old same old all over again. Jeeeeez
South don’t need imports they have loads of youngsters ready for the opportunity.unless they going to get stuck in challenge league to make south look good in all leagues
Bit harsh on Uni saying they are a social club, they'll go close to winning the Prem title, I think they've now beaten Clarence and Kingborough and lost to Olympia by much less that what Clarence did. Still, not the best signs for Kingo- they've looked so underwhelming in most of their practice matches.
Not ready to win things though. Why shouldn’t they have imports?
One or two other clubs could do with a few. Wouldn’t the games be good to watch then?
Couldn't agree more. Take on Uni at Olinda on a cold windy day at your own peril!
My question to all of you is what does this say about Knights?
I didn’t say Uni cannot play. I said they ar a social club which they have been for many years and is not a criticism.
Knights beat South Hobart this evening. So all of a sudden preseason results must be worth 3 points.
Teams are trying new things, the only certain thing we do know is Clarence will concede another 100 this season
I guess now I have to ask what does tonight's result say about South Hobart?
Looks like south hobart youngsters are better
A thorough investigation of the off field side of Clarence is needed by FFT. The club has been in steady decline ever since the current regime took over. While many have lambasted past Clarence coaches it is obvious that it's pretty hard to get results with a committee that obviously has zero idea of what it is supposed to be doing.
Is it not obvious that Tasmania has enough quality players for about six top flight teams? Time for a BBL style franchise competition over summer in line with the A-League as our NPL comp and return the winter competition to a club based regional setup.
Was there one into Knights? No so shut the hell up and let nature take its course.
United are up against it for sure but some dick behind a keyboard is not the judge , jury and executioner.
I agree the club has certainly declined in both woman’s and men’s areas. Current regime should walk.
FFT should really tell Clarence United to go back to Championship fix their problems and come back in 3 years. It helped us at Knights and now we are flying.
Yeh right! 20 minute games wearing pyjamas playing two or three times per week.
Unfortunately No top flight competitions are allowed to run in conjunction with the A league. That's the FFA policy so FFT can't do a thing.
No an injection of funds from a certain benefactor helped Knights. To paint it as something else is dishonest
