Olympia Warriors can go to the top of the NPL Tasmania standings if they can beat sixth-ranked Kingborough Lions United away at Lightwood Park today at 8pm.
A
win would put the Warriors a point ahead of current leaders Devonport City, but
having played two more games than the league leaders.
Olympia
will be without the injured Mark Ortmann.
Warren
Wadawu and Lucas Hill come into the squad.
Wadawu
has recovered from a long-term injury and has made a couple of cameo
appearances in the past fortnight.
Hill
suffered a broken nose against Hobart Zebras last month and he may need to wear
facial protection if he does play.
This
game is of tremendous importance to Kingborough as they have not lived up to
expectations so far.
But,
coach Greg Calvert does not see it that way.
Calvert
said he was looking at a 3-year plan rather than ‘turning the ship around’
immediately.
He
said the club had brought in 11 players and it might take time to change the culture.
He
said a win tonight would be good in terms of the players believing in
themselves, but the result would not have a huge impact on his 3-year-plan of
change.
Christian
Di Martino is doubtful for the Lions because of a hamstring strain, while
American import Horacio Gutierrez Jr is unlikely to play after damaging an
ankle against Glenorchy Knights.
The
Lions’ other American import, Cameron Steele, will play his second game for the
club.
Olympia beat Launceston City 1-0 on Saturday with a very late goal from substitute Joseph Mulungula, while Kingborough's previous outing was a disappointing 4-1 loss to Glenorchy Knights.

Boro 0-3 Olympia can’t see anybody scoring for Boro apart from penalty’s
3 year plan?
Does that mean the imports will be there in three years ? What is the plan? The players that have come in are just not up to it. Players who can’t pass and keep the ball for extended periods yet , will not handle NPL standard. That has been proven already.
Please Walter correct if I am wrong: Greg Calvert said a short time ago that he will be judge on winning and that the goal is to win a title this year. So what has changed?
Kingborough have been on a 3 year plan for decades.
Sounds like a coach trying to keep his job for at least 3 years.
The result will have no bearing on the 3 year plan? So he presumes a loss will be the result? Or does a win mean nothing either?
It appears this club loves coaches who talk in riddles if history is anything to go by. What a load of rubbish.
Kingborough have had a "3 year plan", every year for the last 15 years now.
