South Hobart drew level on points with Women’s Super League leaders Launceston United when they beat second-last Taroona 5-0 tonight at Kelvedon Park in Taroona.

Launceston United have a better goal-difference so stay on top of the standings.

The visitors got off to a good start when Bonnie Davies opened the scoring after just 9 minutes.

Davies went on to score a hat-trick with two goals in the second half.

Taroona did well to restrict her to three goals as he speed was a constant threat, although some of her finishing could have been better.

Mia Cane was another South Hobart speed merchant and she made it 2-0 at the interval when she scored in the 20th minute.

Taroona defended bravely and tried to build some attacks, but the visitors’ defence generally held firm.

Two goals in two minutes in the closing stages killed off any hopes Taroona may have had of getti9ng back into the game.

Davies completed her hat-trick in the 83d minute, while Talia White added South Hobart’s fifth a minute later.

Taroona keeper Izzi Ottavi had a busy night, while Holly Ayton was not given the room nor the shooting opportunities she had against Metro last week.
