Taroona sent a message to the doubters today. That's right, I'm talking to you Anonymous.

Clean sweep for Taroona at home! great atmosphere. olympic look in trouble already. kosta grillas only one looking dangerous.

Anonymous said...

he maybe one of the older players in the premier league but it counted for nothing today. hugo luttmer best on ground!

Anonymous said...

That Taroona u19's team look incredibly strong. They could take it out.

Anonymous said...

And the Olympia supporters were so mature and intelligent today. Get a grip guys, no wonder young refs give up.

Anonymous said...

One has to ask what is the FFT Refs body thinking. Putting a young fellow to run a line in a serious competition 20 minutes after he has finished running around and playing a game for one of the clubs on the park he is about to officiate in? WOW unbelievable. Not fair to the young man not fair to both clubs.

Anonymous said...

those "anonymous" people who are out there hating on Taroona need to look at what they're saying!

that Taroona U19's team were breathtaking today...
and the linesmen were quite good themselves

you haters just need to relax and realise that Taroona are a quality club this year and a force to be reckoned with

Anonymous said...

"joshy" what are you on buddy? how about you all stop blaming refs and linesman, it's part of the game. + no person is low enough to actually be biased in these matches. No one from taroona would anyway.

Nathan Meyers said...

Referee's and their assistants all have some type of club association, regardless of which, they officiate each game without bias (doesn't mean they still won't make bad decision)

if "anonymous'" want to lay blame for Olympia's loss, instead of using the old standard scapegoat of the referres, maybe they should do so at the feet of those really responsible, their coaching staff or players, or simply admit they were outclassed by the better team today.

So much has been said about Taroona being easy beats and certain for relegation that losing to them seems to be shameful.

There will be several clubs shamed this season if this is the case.

how was it players to get dressed for parade today, third world was it. ive seen better public toilets at 4am in hobart city at that time.

Der Scheinmeister said...

Taroona off to a flier; the Greeks are fighting everybody already. It was the fault of the referee, the linesmen, the phase of the moon, the Estia Festival diversion. Perhaps the Turks had a hand in it!

Well done!

i'd just like to say
people should be listening to what nathan myers is saying.

nathan really knows his shit, both at reading the play and dominating his goals.

his post was very much the smartest post on this whole blog
if you want intelligent views on the game, stop screwing around and look at his post.

Anonymous said...

I think you will all find that both teams will be fodder this season. which only makes the result itself better for taroona. valuable points.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know why the Social women's & men's semi finals were only 30minute halves, yet FFT scheduled the games 2 hours apart?

Did they forget to tell the referees.....or was there extra time if scores level before penalties?

What will happen with Div 1 games as they're also 2 hours apart?

Banksie said...

Olympia reserves were robbed.
Any neutral person watching that game would say the same.
Though to be fair to Taroona they played the counter attack well.
Ex olympia man came back to haunt us.

Anonymous said...

Of course Taroona will do well against Olympic/Kingborough/Eagles & Clarence because none of them teams are any better than the div1 teams they played against last year.

Well done though Taroona for proving that today!

Anonymous said...

can fft check with the local council about the bad smell at kelvendon park please, seems alot of bad smells hanging around that hill next to the pump station, its a public nuisance.

Anonymous said...

taroona will now give nappies to home supporters and players and officals who play for the club, during the home season, thankyou, taroona fc.

Anonymous said...

here's a good idea everyone...lets complain about a bad smell at kelvedon when it's 30 meters away from a sweage plant thing
good one guys

Anonymous said...

taroona is holding a market next home game, buckets of mission brown paint on special, look forward to seeing you all there, taroona fc.

Anonymous said...

Olympia reserves were not robbed, they were unable to score from several clear chances. The one they put in the back of the net was clearly offside. don't forget that the position of the player before the ball rebounded off the post is still important.

its me iVAN HERE COULDNT BE BOTHER CREATING A PROFILE AS THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY STUPID COMMENTS ON THE BLOG BUT I DISAGREE WITH YOU ON WHAT YOU SAID "Referee's and their assistants all have some type of club association, regardless of which, they officiate each game without bias (doesn't mean they still won't make bad decision)" when my brother played here in hobart few years ago and i refereed his game/s i would treat him like any other play in the game regardless whether he is my brother or not and every referee goes onto the field and referees to there best ability.

I was just also wondering if you anyone could confirm whether or not there was police called as i have been asked by several people tonight at soccer

OMG, sooo much trash talk already!
why so much controversy over the first game??? clarence lost so What? why not wait till the first round is over berofe critisizing browny?? Olympia lost, Yes but if Taroona have improved or was that a one off still remains to be seen! The linesman made a few errors, Yes. Not taking chances in reserves cost olympia, it's how the game works! yes, Taroona do have a good 19s squad! Yes, Taroona supporters are annoying but they're passionate about supporting their club (how ever they need to watch their langauge)!

i played against taroona 19's and reserves today

they were so strong and confident on the ball it was uncanny, best squad they've had in years

No matter what happens in the game, what sort of supporter that values the continuity and quality of football in Tasmania threatens a match official?

Nathan Meyers said...

Hey Ivan,
By "association" I simply meant that all have (or should) played football for a club at some stage thus associated, of have an affinity with etc. Was no way implying that any referee would favour a team and as stated, I believe all do so without bias

Police called to the Taroona ground after the match? I left around 5:20 and everyone was sitting round eating a few snags and reliving the highlights, no trouble going on so no idea why police would be called?

Oh and to anonymous with the kind comments, I'm glad you actually saw my 1 good game during my long and undistingushed career.

Nathan i remember a couple of your good ones at new norfolk haha but i also remember drilling a couple past you at training.
doubt that would happen now id be lucky to score on a dart board.
But at least your post makes sense and isnt just muck racking like most on here from guys with splinter bums from spending there lives on the bench. i guess if they cant do it on the park they resort to denegrating the ones who can ehhhh mate

is that why the police were called, because the match official was threatened????? can anyone confirm??

Olympic was terrible! 19s, reserves, seniors and most of all their spectators. How on earth did they not go down last year.. There only good player in 09 Saad has made a good decision to not play for the 2010 number 1 pick for relogation.

The only smell at the ground was coming from all the dirty Olymic nappies. Shiting themselves in fear.

Didn't see any police at Taroona.
I did see a good game though. Hard fought but Olympia didn't capitalise on the chances they had.

Grillas was very difficult when he came on - definately up to speed and will be good this season. An amazing save pulled off by the Taroona keeper from an Olympic set piece saved them in the second half.
Taroona also looked to have toughened up over the last year.

Whilst the crowd may have been vocal the two benches and coaching staff seemed really friendly towards each other.
Seems to be a lot of crap being talked up by others.

Rumour has it Tsakiris brothers gone for good and alot more in doubt to continue on also. alot of discontent with coach and committee especially that may lead to a mass exodus from olympic. grillas will be only shining light this season. if these rumours are true they will be left with no real on field leadership - or quality players.

i hear that the Burke will be transferring from Fulham to clarence during the week, he's been playing in the Premier league for a few seasons but wants to challenge himself, so word on the street is that he's coming to save Clarence FC, also known as the phoenix, but shhh its a secret

Anonymous said...

Taroona Olympia game was good to watch lots of good play by both teams. Taroona seemed to get more players around the ball defensively and took their chances.

Olympia managed to get offside a lot when good chances were presented to them. They looked dangerous with Grillas up front in 2nd half.

Luttmer was the difference in first half.

As for the supporters the Taroona supporters on the hill need to understand that moronic taunts about Greek heritage weren't funny the first time and were pathetic when repeated through the whole game.

Anonymous said...

from what I saw taroona hd a more direct and compact style whereas oympic did not use any width which played into taroonas hands. maybe bench at olympic didn't have their game right on the day and taroona did.

as far as taunts from the crowd are concerned if it's funny and witty any taunts have the best effect. tassie supporters don't put time into tht because not enough of them probably.

listening to the kop in full voice singing amusing p*#ss takes about opposition is far more effective than some of the downright venom you hear at millwall for example.

maybe taroona supporters could work on a few chants to entertain the whole crowd.

SPL 2010

South

daylight
zebras
knights
eagles
clarence
taroona
olympic
kingborough

I expect the relegation fight to be the season long issue with bottom 4-5 taking points of each other and the odd surprise result.

top 3 to be well out front by end of first round and by end of second round south having too big a lead for others. benefits of the larger quality squad than other competitors.

Goals is what it its about but the chances on goal and corners taken were in Olympia's favour.

Adam Hedge pulled out on morning of game affected plans a bit. The coach showed his mettle at half time by rearranging things and Olympia were far more threatening. However, like Clarence the night before they were unable to make any headway on the scoreboard.

Taroona played well and deserved victory.

Olympia have a lot of improvment to come. When they can get Adam and Kosta and Warren in their starting line up they will be better but the team needs time to gel also - many new players.

If the Taroona supporters think they are smart they need to think again - or just think ...

Anonymous said...

At least Taroona supporters sledge their own team as well. I'd rather sit kids near them than the Olympia supporters swearing away on the other side.

What a load of crap, I played in the 19's game for Olympia against Taroona and I have a recollection of two Taroona players getting yellow carded for swearing at the ref. I also have a recollection of copping it from the Olympia reserves and seniors that were watching the game. So you can't sit on your throne and tell me Taroona are a better side in that regard. 19's lost because it was our first game together for most players and the fact we had one sub compared to Taroona's four. we should have made more of our chances and on another day we could have won it. The reserves were unlucky not to get a win. If it hadn't of been for the linesman that raised his flag whenever the Taroona defender told him to. As for seniors, we had one player knocked out, another out with injury and a few players not quite in form. Give it two or three years and you watch some of the young guys coming through. Olympia will be a decent side in a few years.

Anonymous said...

Surely it's the club's fault that the 19s only had one sub... get organised and get a squad perhaps?

The linesman in question has been to national championships and knows the laws of the game, obviously better than some spectators and players.

Yoda said...

Hmmm Hardman, a few years was a long way away yesterday.

I do agree with the swearing, but applaud the referees decisions.

I have heard multiple times language used throughtout the summer cup and fixture 1 verbals being used. And have found referees have used common sense.

A yellow card is much more acceptable than a red for an expletive thrown out of frustration. Rare it is to see a barage of foul language thrown at match officials with such force to see a red in my opinion.

Anonymous said...

neither yellow card was for swearing... your 19s defence just shepherd the ball 100% illigally to the state that the taroona boys lost control of the usually respectable manners.

Anonymous said...

still long way to go, taroona 100% to go downnnnnnnnnn, going downnnnnnnnnnn, down, down, going downnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Anonymous said...

i got the yellow card in under 19s...i said to the ref to get control of the game. because there were hip and shoulders going everywhere with out the whistle going, we (taroona) were being a bit brutal, but i didnt swear at the ref..you doofus

Observer said...

From what I hear and read, Taroona as a club, have a real chip on their shoulders.Watch out because during the year you will come up against some more experienced sides/players who will put you back in your place in more ways than one.The trouble is that your spectators, who are amongst the worst in the league along with Clarence ,are causing this resentment of your team, which is not fair to them.I am sure the coach would not condone the behaviour.Maybe the club needs to deal with the trouble makers.Nothing wrong with banter and support , but not when it develops into more than just that.

Anonymous said...

What was it that Taroona supporters actually said to cause offence? At the game they were certainly being yobs, but they seemed to spend most of the time mocking the Olympia supporters for abusing the referee and the linesman everytime they made a decision

Anonymous said...

As a player it was a great game, the atmosphere was awesome and it was a good passionate game played in good spirit.

Anonymous said...

I don't think traoona have a chip on their sholders. everyone on the blog seems to bring them down. its always 'taroona will go downnnn'. a lot of pressure on them i think.

all teams have passionate supporters. can anyone say that it would be nice to be at kgv house end goals during a knights game? if you could understand greek, olympia supporters would shock.

long season ahead for everyone.

Anonymous said...

Taroona supporters are no better or worse than the supporters of any other club. The Hill has a reputation, so people hear what they want to hear and then put it on this blog as truth.

Anonymous said...

For all those whining about the hill, it is quite clear you need to work on your mental strength if you let such light hearted jeers affect you to such a degree.

Anonymous said...

I can't wait to play Taroona down at the Hill and smash them. It's good for the league having a bit of atmosphere at games, If people can't handle a bit of stick from the sidelines then they have problems.

Anonymous said...

^ exactly right, if you could understand greek, olympia would have problems i'm sure. taroona yell chants to individuals that are clearly jokes. better than swearing. taroona are also probably the youngest team, and i'm sure they will be more of a force in a couple more years with some of the confidence and experience the other teams play with.

Anonymous said...

Any crowd is a good crowd for the league, we struggle to get over 200 to a top of the league game.

Anonymous said...

"if you could understand greek".
Well you obviously dont so dont make assumptions about what was said. You are just making yourself sound stupid.

Anonymous said...

body language says a lot

Anonymous said...

taroona boys, its only the first game of a long season. stop gripping it too hard.its as if you have one the world cup. you played alright but dont think olympia could have played any worse than what they did.

Anonymous said...

Exactly, Taroona played alright... they can play much better too. Yes it's a long season and it's going to be tough. but it's a good start.

player said...

the hill adds to the atmosphere of the game. something that is missing in tasmanian football at the moment.
