hobart utd for the title this season

Adam said...

great game to watch but the better team on the day was hobart clearly putting alot of pressure on the players when they lose it and playing very physical. Also DOSA beat tis under 15's 7-4

Anonymous said...

Great fight from the lions to come back from 2-0 early in the game. Eagles looked like they ran out of gas. Could be an important 3 points come the end of the season.

Adam

TIS does nt have a under 15 team, so you probally mean the FFT state team.

Pixel 40 said...

Adam. yes it was the State U/15 team
a good game, those kid have an amazing skill, but the physical presence very technical do
good game you guy starting to play good

Pixel 40 said...

Hobart united will win the summer cup as the TIS, wont stand the physical presence of HUFC, they can be hard on other players
well the rules don't specified about not playing physical, TIS need to step up if they want to have a go at it

Anonymous said...

Hobart United very good in attack but open defensively.Against Uni it could have ended 3-3 but the Uni defence were half asleep.

Anonymous said...

scorers for kingbro-eagles game?

Anonymous said...

well done TIS - a decent result.

Anonymous said...

round of upsets. Most would have been lucky to pick oner result in SPL.

Anonymous said...

Pixel, there is a big difference between physical presence and being dirty, and we all know which of those 2 hufc are.

Anonymous said...

Careful Anonymous I tried to say that in the preview and Walter took it down... Dirtiest team in Tas no challenger comes close

Anonymous said...

Yes I read your post before it was deleted and agreed with every word!

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't day hufc are div1 favourites. Lucky to beat uni, beaten easily by beachside in game 1, hardly stand outs.

Anonymous said...

The old legs of beachside held out well for 110 minutes against at TIS today, and was probably coming home the stronger. Still the only undefeated team for the summer cup during normal time. Maybe age won't weary then after all.

Also TIS gave a few good hits of their own today, hufc's tactics won't bother them.

Anonymous said...

also saw both hufc games, and have to agree anon 8:03. dominated physically by beachside, should have been a bigger margin. matched for most of the game by an uni team still looking way understrength. IMO shaping up to be a good contest among 4 teams at top of Div1.

Anonymous said...

Beachside had 3-4 first team players out today as well. But well done to TIS, played a solid and physical game.

Anonymous said...

Walter, given the pictures I would assume your were at chigwell today? any match reports?

Anonymous said...

Lions scorers were marchioli (pen), Freeman and mcdonald.

Pixel 40 said...

it is not the HUFC tactic that TIS need to look up, it is the way the player use their body in a physical way that they need to worry,

anon
when I say physical presence I was being nice,
you right physical presence mean a bit dirty,
or if want to call it( bad tackles)

will said...

bourough u19s dominated

Anonymous (8.43pm), I was at North Chigwell but have a bout of the flu and didn't make it into extra-time. Had to go home. I was going to go to Lightwood after the TIS v Beachside game but couldn't make it. Don't know if a match report would be complete without the extra-time and penalty shoot-out (of which I don't even know the scorers).

jerrie kruijver said...

congrats to south for winning the hudson cup.you showed some good football in the tournament

Anonymous said...

I could only help you with the beachside scorers walter - klahsen x howarth y robinson y dunne x shepard y aitken y griznic y sozynski x reason y Chadwick x

on what basis ppl are saying the HUFc are dirty?? did they get many cards in the summer cup?? or in the last few years?? i reckon they've got the same number of cards as any other D1 team..i can remember the comments on Orr treatment by Beachside's Davies last year,,,does it make the whole team dirty??

Anonymous said...

Galloway attrocious at lightwood today. He is not capable of senior game. He obviously has something against certain players on both sides and was not in control of the game. Time FFT go their act into gear and prompoted and rewarded top refs such as Barker, Ivan and Manuella.

Linesman Natoli not much better.

If the game is to move to the high standards many clubs are aspiring to, the ref level must improve significantly.

How can a ref allow play to proceed with two players left litterallly unconcious on the ground? Can the ref be consistant with physical contact - to both sides? Linesman was not watching the throw in, both sides had foul throws with feet over the line.

One particular instance of NT no 10 swearing in front of the stand - glad I dont have young kids there, was not even queried by either ref of linesman.

We all want crowds and atmosphere at games but until such times that the standard of reffing improves dramatically there is no hope f moving onto the next step.

couldnt agree more

Anonymous said...

was at the metro game today and some of the metro players skill level is on par with 10 year olds, some cannot use basic skills of the game, cant see promotion yet.

Anonymous said...

hutd showed more class today and deserved the win, had more possesion and quality, hope it carries on during the season, also hutd are only small in stature, how can they be physical, just more determined and heart for the game. well done hutd.

Walter said...

Anonymous (9pm), thanks for those details of the Beachside penalty takers. Much appreciated.

Anonymous said...

Soccer is a physical sport..who wants it more gets the ball. HUFC boys were hungry for the ball today. They were fired up especially after I saw the Premier hanging out with them and supporting them today.

It should be a close and exciting season!!

Anonymous said...

2 things thats were shinning today at metro were hutd players smiles and mark broadbent.

Anonymous said...

how was declan foley able to play for tis this weekend when he was red carded against nelson last weekend. surely a mid week practise game does not a suspension make!!

Unknown said...

i believe you need to do a bit of research anonymous, tis is included in the prem res comp this season, and is playing matches mid week. so i guess that's a competitive league match missed and suspensioon served, sum cup cards do carry into the reg season.

Anonymous said...

Interesting point that! Does that mean if a PL Res (or senior player) who gets a red card on the Sat, can then serve his suspension against tis in mid week game and is then be cleared to play on the Sat in the normal roster game

Anonymous said...

Is TIS playing Prem or Div1 this yr?

Anonymous said...

of what i seen at north chigwell today is metro to soft and immature, HUFC were like the african lion, hungry for the kill.

Unknown said...

should be, but letters usually state you are suspended until the team you got suspended in have played their next match, and cannot play for another team in the interim. usually that's a week, but can work either way. An issue of course for a player sent off mid week is they can't play on the weekend as that will be their next match, but that's a normal comp rule.

Anonymous said...

I must say I am a bit disappointed to see one of the Metro players threatening me in front of his head coach about getting the HUFC fans to quiet down...soccer is all about the 12th fan..you play for your team and them.

Anonymous said...

Gosh..for DOSA to let in four goals against a bunch of 15yr olds is rather worrying. What is happening down there?

its not science said...

if you get red carded you miss one roster match, not one week.

it seems on here, some degrade certain rules, and then others have to go back and ask what the actual law states.

think before we all act stupid

anonymus threats by another anonymus witnessed by another anonymus, condemned by anonymus.now police are looking for anomymus to find out who threatened anonymus

Walter, TIS opponent is David McClung, I believe. He has his father's eyesbrows.

ethol said...

just watched the highlights of the south and zebras game and i must say thats the worst highlights package iv ever seen, kaden couldnt catch a cold if he tried, souths crossing and finishing is terrible and the game is just so scrappy, i was told by people at the game it was bad but didnt think it would of been this bad

Anonymous said...

I was at the game it wasn't very good stnadard, Buffon in goals looked very shaky.

votes I would give

3 Crossa
2 D Brown
1 J Lo

Eagles extremely unlucky. Good to see Nathan Pitchford back in the game post injury, hopefully back in fantastic form soon. Agree eagles eemed to run out of gas towards end of game. Good goal by Ben whitehall, from anderson through ball. Noticeable absence of Jamie Vernon on the wing, missed the strength and possession.

Anonymous said...

walter, even though were only there for the 90, I would be very interested to read a match report on beachside v TIS. It would me good to hear how our states future stars went up a team full of players in their twilight years.

Ps - get well soon!

Despite my association with South Hobart, all readers to this blog site would have to agree that my contributions are well considered, balanced and always with the best interests of football in mind. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for all contributors particularly the one that goes by the name anonymous. I think contributors should ask themselves, prior to posting a comment, whether the comments will contribute to the advancement of the game.
My contribution today is to praise the young lads associated with the TIS. Every time I watch the boys play I am amazed by their technical ability, speed and vision. The boys showed great composure and nerve to win the penalty shootout yesterday. How contributors to this forum can continue to post negative comments about this group is beyond me. I am sure we will all try to claim credit for individual squad member’s success if they make it to the big time. Let’s support them now and wish them well.

Hey the_floater my comments are aways positive. Negative comments by people using my name. Agree TIS have great talent lets support them.

Any update on which teams are in Div 1 this year?

Of course it would be too much to ask for to have a roster for Div's 1-4 a week out from the start of their season!

FFT showing their incompetence yet again!

Anonymous said...

Not a single player from Beachside were begrudging in the loss. All were very impressed by the technical and tactical ability of the TIS players.

They are deserving of progressing to the final.

Anon 12:35 am
did you forgot the score.
also it was a practice game
So we decide to try new things
and yes we score more goals but
also conceded some
that is what practice games are for

god rhodesy why would you play terry kent at 47 so much for metros youth policy has it gone out the window if it has give pitchford, maccas hallam ferral green tassell prestage garth a call could fit in well with terry.

long live the king said...

DO NOT KNOCK "THE PRESSSSTTTIIIGGGGEEEEE FOR ONE MINUTE. Everyone knows the divine ponytail gave everything he had for every franchise that he played in. metro would be lucky to have him, any club for that matter would only be boosted by his inclusion onto their staff. Maybe eagles could play a great wall of kent in its backline

if danny did decide to leave his potato farm, and choose to lace the preds on again, it would be money well spent to go through that gate

Anonymous said...

If terry kent wasnt playing in the metro team then I beleive that the ship would sink faster. Terry kent was metros best player against hobart utd as many of the other metro players havent got a clue when it comes to the game. They didnt know how to handle hobart utd and lacked the skill, and just general sense when i came to the game. would of been 5 nil if terry didnt control the middle.

Anonymous said...

lol if Kent is controlling the middle in a div1 game then that says it all for the sandard of div1, disgraceful

Anonymous said...

Metro's Terry Kent played with a cool head and had an effective game, his distribution was spot on and seldom did lose possession.

There was plenty of youth on display and blending youth and maturity is a smart move.

Unfortunately Metro were simply beat by a better team on the day; although the tackles from some players were not warranted and over the top. Shame about the Hobart United spectators, who were racist in the extreme, surely they should know better, shame on the them.

If you watched the game you could see the style of play by Metro is a transition from last seasons Scottish long ball and chase it down. This seasons style, in the medium to long term is better for the players, the club, the game and the results.

Watch this space

Anonymous said...

crap, metro just play the wrong players, ive seen very skillfull players in the resies but cannot get a start in the 1st team whys that? maybe its a mate thing or metro are to over the top on young guns who lack experience. Why do all the young players leave the club for others. Terry Kent is an exceptional player with a football brain, not like some others i saw on the park last weekend, as i said before on a previous post, skill, which showed lack of against HUFC, metro will not struggle but will not get promoted.

Anonymous said...

Terry Kent was one of Metro's best players, i didnt understand why the coach played the right winger who was clearly injured and swapped strikers at half time (i think he did anyway). also people its only summer cup

Anonymous said...

interesting too see young kent watching dad play .not at eagles game one wonders has he fallen out with another club .maybe waistline not up to krambos liking or attitude.

Anonymous said...

great recruiting drive by div 4 the rovers brett anderton nicholson boys dave robb and more to add later.god these lower leagues are great arent they.like indian ipl old players still making an impact.

Anonymous said...

The nicholson Boys at another club, surely not. Mind you where 'Poppy Bret' goes, so does his sons.

Anonymous said...

If that is the case, I feel sorry for Dave Robb.
Listening to Brett and the Nicholson boys telling everybody how good they are............lol

They all think they should be still playing Premier League.

wouldn't you love to be in that team..........NOT!!!
