Taroona v Zebras was a match that would have surprised many of the critics & Friday score predictors on this blog. Taroona gave a fine account of themselves, & but for a couple of very dubious offsides not awarded, could even have won.
Other than a period between ca 75 -85 minutes, when it was a bit of a backs to the wall, they more than held their own aginst a solid Zebras outfit.

They will play worse this season & win.

Sounds like Hobart United were dirty as always.....winning brutally instead of in a classy way

were you at the game? cause it was actually a very good game. not dirty at all. tis should have scored more but hit the post a few times. however hufc were better on the day.

good luck to taroona. i hope they keep impressing!

no colour clash between roona and zebras, unless your colour blind or a ref. did see the game hobart v tis 4 shocking tackles that could of resulted in red cards not even a yellow 3 from hobart 1 from tis but the side that won deserved to and showed passion. to the tis they played some great soccer and if not for alex in goals would of been behind at half time. loved the drums and the hobart fans great atmosphere. oops sorry no drums allowed fft will stop this can't have a great atmosphere and people enjoying themselves in the mecca of the worlg game tassie

Taroona couldn't score in Summer Cup but have scored 5 in first 2 league games.

Does playing Steve GHudson Cup provide a flying start?

I agree Brian, the period between 75-85 mins, Taroona had a flat four at the back and Zebras gained control of the midfield too often. If one of the back four had moved upfield then Taroona hopefully would have attacked more often and then reduced the # of times Zebras attacked. I'd like to see Ben strengthen an already solid midfield.
Zebras are a great team to watch...good entertainmant!

Great stuff by Dorf and the boys... Wonder what state Louden would be in right now?

Taroona played some good football to match Zebras for large parts of the match. Good game in all. How long until Ivan is removed from Premier duties?

funny this week that the taroona boys are having a go at the referee, but they had no problems with him last week.

frog said...

not that funny really, last week he was good, this week he made a couple of really big blunders that changed the result of the game

it's funny how the losing team always seem to blame referee because they lost not because they didn't score more goals than the opposition. And people wonder why there are not enough refrees these days

so the linesman is sure he is offside...the ref is obviously unsure as to what happened as he had to go speak to the linesman...and it's a goal?... Were drums really taken from the Hobart fans? Orders from the CEO? ;)

Why on earth would zebras choose a second strip which consisted of the same colors as there home strip? They might as well have turned up in their home strip. not a lot of difference...

Anonymous said...

their home strip would of been much better, not ideal but better.

or you could supply the 2 linesmen with a range of cans of spraypaint, anonymously donated.

The drums werent taken from United fans. It was great for the atmosphere.

I was sitting on the hill at the end the offside was called and it was clear that Ivan made the right decision. The flag was raised because the Zebras player was in an offside position but what the upset fans did not take into account was the fact a Taroona player attempted to clear the ball resulting in it rebounding off the zebras attackers back and falling at the feet of the goal scorer, therefor not offside, despite being clear of the defence. Ivan merely went to check with the assistant which player the ball had rebounded off and who originally attempted to clear.

Was at the A-League Grand final and would have to say it was a fantastic atmosphere, especially with the stands moved in closer.
Teams were evenly matched the whole game, a few melbourne players were below standard though (Nick Ward was the main culpret), with heavy tactics used by Sydney to ruffle melb worked wonders. Fantastic game to be at though.
I Fear that if Tassie ever got a team that we would lack the atmosphere of these games.
I look forward to a Victory v tassie game in the future (fngers crossed)
