Hobart United and Beachside should stay level at top of Division One ladder

Beachside will be aiming to stay in touch with Hobart United at the top of the southern Division One ladder by beating new club Southern FC away at Sherburd Park on Saturday afternoon.

Beachside and Hobart United both have three points after they each won their opening league matches.

The visitors will miss Tony Ortuso, who has work commitments, and Dave Chadwick, who has family commitments.

Jason Harvey, who scored in the reserves last weekend, will come into the squad.

“We are looking to build on a positive result last week at Metro and will need to continue to take our chances in front of goal, especially in the absence of Bernhard Klasen,” said Beachside player-coach, Nathan Robinson.

“Patrick Dunne had a terrific debut and scored a super goal, which we will require from our midfielders.”

Nelson visit the Showgrounds on Saturday to take on DOSA and they will miss Cameron Rush, who has work commitments.

Tom Gordon is also unavailable, which means that Rhys Endall will come in to the starting line-up for Nelson.

Max Caulfield is on standby for the starting line-up if Ryan Mills is forced to miss the game because of work commitments.

The Nelson team is likely to be: Tom Clamp, Craig Stockdale, Matt Fone, Will Stalker, Bill Hanley, Adam Mills, Cody Flynn, Rhys Endall, Pat Lenck, Andrew Gaskell, Ryan Mills [Substitutes: Troy Hoppitt, Max Caulfield, Nick Roberts].

“We won’t be taking DOSA lightly,” said Nelson coach, Michael Roach. “They have pace and youth and are improving fast after rebuilding from scratch in the pre-season.

“With Tom Gordon out, Cam Rush unavailable and Ryan Mills doubtful, we are not at full strength, but Rhys Endall is a quality young player to bring in, as is Max Caulfield.

“We are also pleased to see midfield hard man Nick Roberts back on the team sheet.”

Metro should have little trouble in disposing of the FFT Under-15s at North Chigwell on Saturday afternoon, while Hobart United must be favoured to beat University away at Olinda Grove.
