Glenorchy Knights Reserves beat the Tasmanian Institute of Sport 3-2 at Wentworth Park this evening through a last-minute goal by Corey Smith.
Brendan Garth had given Knights a 1-0 lead at the interval.
Hugh Foley made it 1-1 when he turned home Declan Foley’s free-kick, while Eli Luttmer’s goal put the TIS 2-1 ahead with 10 minutes remaining.
Mynonge Kamba then equalised and Smith hit the winner in the closing seconds.

Corey's freekick was like Recoba tonight.
TIS all credit to them, they played some very good football, us Knights supporters were impressed.
The 2 CB in Luttmer and Abbott look like very good players for the future.
great game last night.. that first goal for the knights was a peach. awesome to see corey win the game for the knights.. he loved it..
all credit to dean may and his coaching staff for the way they have the young boys playing, luttmer and abbott would rival any centre back pairing in the premier league
Annonomous, thanks for the positive comments re the TIS' play .
The only downside to the game really were the five half drunk jerks beside the net outside the bar.
Unfortunately for you I think they were Knights supporters. They did nothing to enhance anyones enjoyment of the game.
Can you leave them at home next time.
I assume Corey won't be playing seniors this weekend?
Have the Refs stopped babying that TIS side yet? It's doing them no favours for when they do go to the mainland!
Did anyone pick up my headband I left at Wentworth Park last night?
Congratulations to the TIS program on the style of play they are teaching the young TIS players. Eli Luttmer and Will Abbott are two of the best young players I have seen and was great to see players trying to play out from the back and really read and control the game. Probably unfortunate not to win in the end and they did not deserve to lose.
I was disappointed to see young Jesse Curran not get a run as I had the pleasure of coaching him as a 12 year old on a Futsal trip.
I wish all the coaching staff of the TIS the best and was very impressed with the way that the TIS not only played but held themselves.
priest- The two free kicks i took at the end were the only things i did all game so maybe reserves this week? you never know do you?
Rick. I extend my congratulations to the TIS players and all involved for the way they have played this year. I think that many have been pleasantly surprised and the critics appear to have gone quiet. In regard to the drunk idiots, they are what they are and I dont condone the way they carried on but it's not a bad thing for the TIS guys to learn to deal with. If they are to go on then they will have to deal with a hell of a lot more than 5 drunk idiots.
if u carnt hadle a bit of stick from the sideline like u did last night, then pack up your boots now cobba. if u make it to vpl and have 50 people spitting on u, then u have something to complain about.
and it was more like 3-4.
and no i didnt drive.
cheers. (drunk guy behind the goals giving stick to some1 in a clarence jacket because they r a great club and r doing really well this year)
To Anonymous (9:52) Rick Abbott is Will Abbott's dad and I think his comment is completely fair enough, druken idiots behind the goal is bad enough but knights supporters, cant get much worse. I wasn't at the game but from all accounts the TIS played extremely good football and every game they are getting better and better and becoming more confident and believing in their own ability. And i find it very amusing that the TIS bashers have all but lost their voice since this squad has been placed in the premier reserves league.
Sounds like the blog is largely getting posts from 4-5 knobs then who like to congratulate themselves.
What a surprise given the fixture.
I'm fully aware that any half drunk knobs don't either get into EPL matches or are dealt with very physically by the authorities at the stadium. they also get hefty fines and are banned by clubs and the FA. They also probably don't drive themselves home but rather with the assistance of the local plod after a brief out of hours court appearance.
Certainly has some value adding to the entry price for the rest of the crowd.
Next they will bring is rules for the TIS games of no talking allowed from the spectators and maybe introduce a muzzle.
The guys behind the goals were doing absolutely nothing wrong. Grow up boys you are playing in a Men's League deal with it.
I love how parents get involved, I'M sure The TIS kids didn't even care about 3 or 4 blokes yelling out stuff.
It didn't seem to effect the on field performance they played quiet well and probably should of come away with something at full time.
TIS Keeper made some very good saves in the 2nd half to keep his team in it.
The guys behind the net certainly weren't doing much right.
Is that the way real men behave?
why is it such a big deal that guys getting drunk and shouting stuff thats what the game is all about and if you cant handle it dont play. Mabye take up chess or something like that where you wont get upset over a few people having a laugh
The game is about guys getting drunk, shouting obsentities and having as few laughs?? Well, I'll be damned, I thought it was about skill, knowledge, effort, persistence, sportmanship, training, practice, application, etc. No where in my coaching manuals does it mention drunks and morons who think it's funny to try and upset kids trying to do well in a game they love.
Hopefully people will see the last post for what it is...the utterings on a egotistical muppet!!
It was a pleasure having TIS play at our ground last night. They were the better team technically on the night and were unlucky not to at least get a draw. I agree Abbott played well but also feel the Foley boys will make it.
what are we looking at .so much has changed in the past 20 years .past players watching games having a beer reviewing games with comments that some parent dont like to hear .some of these parents have been brought into a bubble where they are just responsible for bringing their boys to a game every week where the supposed drunks have played the game for 20 years or more and have played in the slush at nth chigwell or sherburd park or a great day at kgv .untill these people have seen some of these days ,yes its great to say ill change the game and its ways for my son but its not going to happen .so time to grow up parents and let players from yesteryear make some comments that maybe you do not want to hear but maybe true . dont call all of them drunken idiots because you dont understand because you have allways been a parent .
Yobbos yelling form the sideline is part of the game, and yes all football players will have to deal with it at some stage in their career, But this does not condone adults verbally abusing kids. You must be a pretty sad bloke if your idea of a good night involves trying to put some kid of his game by yelling obscenities...
I wasn't at the TIS game, but it seems that whenever anyone makes any noise at a Tassie Football match a handful of people are up in arms. Maybe FFT should ban all spectators so the players can have some peace and quiet. LOL C'mon guys, lighten up.
yeah i am so sorry for going to the game and supporting my club ova a couple of beers. my bad. didnt no fun was allowed.!!!
but just goes to show that people can say things about people while they r behind a computer. if they had any balls or actually cared a little bit then come and say something to our face.
and if u think that for some reason we will go crazy and start fighting then think again. we r just having a bit of fun and most people relize that.
the guy in the clarence jacket came ova to us and we didnt care. found it good to have a bit of a laugh with the bloke.
oh well i may aswell stop going to games if i carnt pationatly suuprt my club and not have any fun.
i dont think AFL players care that they get abused week in week out. they find it amuseing so if any of the players take offence then grow up and if parents take offence, just sit in the car and have no input what so ever.
thankyou
supposed drunk idiot behind the goals.
P.S if u think i was drunk then feel sorry for the cab driver that drove me home at 3:30 in the morning.
Drunks behind the goals! Abusing players! Something the Ref's put up with week in and week out!! Surely a bit of banter is o/k as long as they remember that kids also go along to watch.......
get a life, football has spectators, it would be great if we could actually grow the number watching.
loud noise, chanting if a fantastic part of any great football game. In other places for home teams it can be worth a goal!. Pity we don't have it down here.
Oh, i forget we don't want the sport to grow
Hopefully we're all mature enough to distinguish between drunken abuse and enjoyable banter/chanting at games. The sport won't grow if parents see or read about drunk people abusing kids! Think about it guys.
I think Rick Abbott has just opened up a pandora's box for the TIS Team. Those supposed drunken idiots are going to see it as a challenge every time they see the 'precious' children. If you're going to play with the big boys then realise...the big boys some times don't play nice. Besides I've seen those Knights supporters be silenced very quickly...by a goal perhaps? Or a scoreboard with a Visitors>Knights?
