Eagles dumped to second-last place

Clarence United ended a run of five consecutive league defeats with a 2-0 home win over New Town Eagles at Wentworth Park this evening.

Luke Cripps put Clarence ahead in the 40th minute from a penalty, awarded for Jamie Vernon's foul on Andy Barron.

Cripps hit the second in the 81st minute.

Shane Kent hit the post for Eagles.

Eagles squandered numerous chances and now find themselves back in second-last place, just three points ahead of bottom-side University, who are in action tomorrow against Glenorchy Knights.

Clarence move up a place to third-last, or sixth, on the ladder.
