Adelaide United moved 6 points clear at the top of the A-League standings after they beat visitors Perth Glory 2-0 at Hindmarsh Stadium tonight.
Sergio van Dijk netted both goals to take his season’s tally to 4 goals.
Last weekend, van Dijk missed an absolute sitter against his former club, Brisbane Roar, but tonight he was in deadly form.
His first came in the 70th minute with a superb header from a left-wing cross.
His second was a penalty in the 73rd minute, after Perth goalkeeper Tando Velaphi missed the ball and bundled over Adelaide captain Lucas Pantelis.
A crowd of 13,000 roared Adelaide on in recognition of their amazing form reversal compared to last season, when they collected the wooden spoon.
Glory had two good first-half chances saved by Adelaide keeper Eugene Galekovic, but were clearly second best for most of the match.
Glory might have had a penalty near the end when Steven McGarry appeared to be brought down, but the referee waved play on.
Adelaide's Mathew Leckie was voted man of the match.

Best game I`ve seen for ages, and what an quality player and person Robbie Fowler is.Absolute class and one of the best overseas players to grace the A-League.His control, passing and timing of runs a joy to watch.Young Leckie a star of future....a mixture of a young Brendon Lakoseljac and Richard Leszcynski of my memories in Tassie...
