Tasmanians overseas

Our Tasmanians overseas are having a hard time of it recently.

Simon Miotto, who is the goalkeeping coach at League One club Tranmere Rovers in England, will have to improve his keepers’ morale after some losses.

Tranmere lost 5-3 away to Bournemouth this weekend, while last week, Tranmere went down 2-0 away to Carlisle.

The week before was better, with Tranmere overcoming visitors MK Dons 4-2.

Tranmere are in the relegation zone, currently sitting in 21st place in the 24-team league.

Meanwhile, Tasmanian keeper Alex Cisak was on the bench yesterday as his League Two side Accrington Stanley progressed to the second round of the FA Cup with a 3-2 home win over Oldham Athletic.

Cisak had been preferred in goal to Ian Dunbavin in the two earlier league matches, when Accrington lost 5-2 away to Chesterfield and went down 4-2 at home against Cheltenham.

Accrington Stanley are 18th in the 24-team League Two competition.
