Rosemary Wells has been appointed as coach of Kingborough Lions United’s Premier Women’s League side.

She has played in the New South Wales Women’s Premier League and was selected for a Matildas training squad in the past.

Martin Dunnington will continue as the reserves coach.

Kingborough are also hoping to have a social team in Division Two.

The club will have some training sessions before Christmas so that players can meet the new coach.

The first of these is at 6.30pm on Monday, 13 December, followed by another on the Wednesday. These will be held at Lightwood ground 3 and players should use the Gormley Road entrance to get to the ground.

Beachside will play a practice match against Taroona at Olinda Grove next Sunday commencing at 2.30pm.

Beachside are also running sessions on Sundays at 3pm at Sandown for juniors from under-10s and up.

“These are just a kick about so that people can have a look at the club,” said senior coach, Brett Pullen.

“The social men’s players have also started having a kick at the same time and venue, but this will stop over Christmas and recommence on 9 January and anyone is welcome.

“They can call me on 0412 123 014 or email me at bdpullen@bigpond.com.”

Beachside and Special Olympics Tasmania have commenced soccer sessions for children aged 10 to 14 years with physical and mental disabilities.

Sessions will recommence in early January and enquiries may be made to Brett Pullen at the same contact details mentioned above.

so Tassie U15s didn't get a point and lost to NT and now our NTC AKA TIS side has lost every game including a loss to NT. That means we are clearly on the bottom of the heap.

Tell me again - how good a coach is Dean May??

you're only as good as the cattle you herd. The last batch were good, and hence the better results.

A lot of the players in this squad are 13 year olds and have only just started and anyone criticizing the program or Dean May has no idea whatsoever about Football

How many are 13year olds ? I dont think it is many at all.All Ntc are in the same situation .There are still many of the same players that were in the team that played this year.Lets not forget we were beaten by N.T NOT ONE NIL TWO NIL.

The majority of the NTC side consists of 15 year olds with a couple of 14 year olds and a couple of 13 year olds. The older boys have been there for a few years and I believe this is their last year .I would say the ave age is 15 or very close to.
Will Abbot and Jeremy Walker are too old for the Institute challenge so they are not playing (as far as I know)

Anonymous 5.46pm, believe me, they are playing. Both are included in the squad lists!

Walter I stand corrected then. I was told they would not participate as they were too old.
So there you go.

No Walter you are wrong. I saw will today in tas and I believe walker is also not playing and Eli is also still in Hobart, not sure why

Anonymous 8.29pm and 8.58pm, I guess I'm wrong then. I do know they were both included in the squad lists, but that doesn't mean they played. And, if they have been seen in Tasmania, they must not have been playing.

It's interesting, but not surprising, that no information has been given to the local media about this tournament and the Tasmanian team as far as I know.

probably given to the mercury.. lol

jeremy walker is training with the u/17 AIS squad while up there and not playing, he seems to be doing well.

once again re-iterating anyone criticizing the program really knows nothing at all about football....but then again how many do here in tasmania?

gee if you say that several more times you might actually believe it yourself. Simply put the concept of 16 Tasmanian soccer players being in the TIS, which is about developing players to National standard, is a joke. This is not a comment on the coach's ability or on how well the TIS team can beat SPL reserve teams - it is just an informed comment about the logic of a Tasmanian TIS team. The axing of U15s at Nationals is a pointer to this. All Tassie have now is the Institute Challenge (a misnomer for NTC squads) and so we need to top up 1, 2, or 3 potential National standard players with 13, 14 or 15 Tasmanian level players, who can't beat Northern Territory!

I believe Eli was injured a few weeks prior to the tournament. He may not have recovered, OR he may be too old also. Who knows.

you honestly have no idea about development. your little one must have missed out on a regional squad or state squad in the early days and you are still scarred?

Do you actualy know how gd the NT team is? you're talking nonesense. Remember, the NT is not the lowest ebb of Australian football, Tasmania is. Just goes to show how ignorant you are.

Sadly I bow to your wisdom. Yes Tassie appears to be absolutely the lowest ebb of football as you put it. Sorry for my comments it was actually two whole years ago that Northern Territory were shite. It was two years ago that Northern Terriroty lost 7-0 to Tasmania. Ummm, which team is your boy in then?

Good point made earlier. May keeps the older boys in for the sake of beating teams in the local comp (ego trip) and the older boys get max time while others languish with 20 mins game time. Then when the TIS goes away the littlies struggle. Yep, that's development for ya!
