Hobart Olympic started the better but were not able to convert that superiority into goals.

They created several half-chances without ever seriously threatening.

Emmanuel Tsakiris and Colin Banks were lively, as was Hugh Richardson, but the final pass was always astray and played into the hands of the Knights defenders.

Alex Tatnell had a good game in goal for the Knights. He was alert to through balls and was able to cut out any danger with astute interceptions.

He made several important saves, particularly against Tsakiris.

Chris Tsimiklis was busy at the heart of the Olympic defence but still found time to launch attacks.

Cosmos Paite is obviously not fully fit. He created some openings for the Knights but his choice of pass was not always correct.

In the first half, for example, he chose to shoot tamely on one occasion when Andrew Robb was on his own and running through the middle.

It was Paite’s shot, however, which enabled Robbie Bolonja to put the Knights ahead in the 58th minute with a deft touch.

Shane Kent made it 2-0 in the 71st minute when Stratos Plomaritis could only parry Bolonja’s shot.

Tsakiris pulled a goal back a minute later with a low drive from close range that gave Tatnell no chance.

Bolonja restored the two-goal buffer in the 74th minute when he turned in Robb’s shot.

Olympic had one more chance before the end when Peter Otto set up Tsakiris, but he fired straight at Tatnell.

The win lifted the Knights to the top of the ladder with 13 points, one ahead of Tilford Zebras, who are in action against University on Saturday.

  • Glenorchy Knights coach, Nick Harrison, said:

“Two different teams, really.

“First half, weren’t in it and kept giving the ball away.

“They started the better team. They came out of the blocks quicker than us, but as the first half wore on, I thought we got back into it.

“Second half, we came back out and did what we said we would in the change rooms and thoroughly deserved it.

“Pretty disappointed with the goal we gave away.

“Thoroughly deserved and put the pressure on now for next week against Zebras.”

  • Hobart Olympic coach, Tony Tarros, said:

“First half, we were all over them but didn’t put our chances away.

“We had a lot more opportunities in the opening half.

“A few injuries in the second half took it away from us.”
